Food - the final frontier. Here are some recent news bits having to do with food and space or futuristic food-related stuff.
Wired recently wrote about high-falutin' chef Alain Ducasse, who rustled up eats for the gang on the International Space Station. Ducasse followed in the footsteps of Emeril Lagasse, who has also prepared food for ISS residents. The items on Ducasse's high-flying menu - roasted quail in a Madiran wine sauce, smooth celeriac puree with nutmeg, and semolina cake with dried apricots.
From the AP, via Wired, a report on the potential hazards of working with wasabi in space. Ouch. The mind boggles at how much more wrong this one could have went.
From the BBC, here's a report about that curious place where nanotechnology and food intersect. Cola-flavored milk anyone?
